Big Bass Bonanza (Original)
Released in December 2020, the original Big Bass Bonanza introduced the money collect mechanic that defined the entire franchise. The fisherman wild on reel 5 collects all visible fish values, and during free spins (triggered by 3-5 scatters awarding 10-20 spins), he can appear on reels 2-5 with escalating retrigger multipliers up to 10x.
The original remains the most played game in the series. Its medium volatility makes it the most accessible – sessions are steadier than the high-volatility sequels, and the base game money collect (reel 5 only) gives regular spins an extra payout layer that most variants lack.
Best for: Players who want consistent sessions with regular payouts. The purest version of the mechanic without added complexity.
Big Bass Splash
The most popular sequel, released in June 2022. Big Bass Splash keeps the medium volatility of the original but adds a wheel bonus that can award up to 20 free spins, multipliers, or instant cash prizes. The max win increases to 5,000x.
The wheel bonus is the key addition. When you trigger free spins, a wheel spins first to determine extras – additional spins, starting multipliers, or cash. This adds a secondary excitement layer before the feature even starts. The fisherman collect mechanic works identically to the original during free spins.
Best for: Players who enjoy the original but want higher win potential without moving to high volatility. The natural upgrade from the original.
Big Bass Bonanza Megaways
Released in August 2023, this variant replaces the 10 fixed paylines with the Megaways engine – up to 46,656 ways to win on every spin. The reels vary between 2 and 7 symbols each, creating a different number of win ways every spin.
The Megaways version pushes volatility to high and max win to 10,000x. Sessions are streakier – longer dry spells but bigger payouts when features hit. The money collect mechanic works the same way but with far more symbol positions on screen, the potential for multiple fish values to be visible simultaneously is higher.
Best for: Players who want maximum variance and are comfortable with high-volatility gameplay. Not recommended as a first Big Bass game.
Big Bass Bonanza Keeping it Reel
Released in February 2024, Keeping it Reel adds a tumble/cascade mechanic to the Big Bass formula. When you land a winning combination, the winning symbols are removed and new ones drop in from above. This continues until no new wins form, meaning a single spin can produce multiple payouts.
The tumble mechanic interacts with the money collect in an interesting way – fish values can accumulate across multiple tumbles before a fisherman collects them all. Combined with the 10,000x max win, this creates the highest single-spin potential in the series alongside Megaways and BBB 1000.
Best for: Players who enjoy cascading/tumble slots (like Sweet Bonanza) and want that mechanic combined with the Big Bass fishing theme.
Big Bass Amazon Xtreme
Released in January 2024, Amazon Xtreme moves the setting from a lake to a jungle river. The visual overhaul is accompanied by enhanced multiplier mechanics – fisherman wilds can carry their own multipliers that apply to collected fish values, stacking on top of the retrigger multipliers.
The stacking multiplier system is what sets Amazon Xtreme apart. A fisherman with a 3x personal multiplier collecting fish during a 10x retrigger phase applies a 30x total multiplier to the collected values. This is how the 10,000x cap is achievable in practice.
Best for: High-volatility players who want the most explosive potential from the money collect mechanic.
Big Bass Bonanza 1000
Released in May 2024, BBB 1000 is an enhanced version of the original with one major change – the multiplier potential during free spins extends to 1,000x. The base game plays identically to the original, but the free spins feature can reach far higher payouts.
Think of BBB 1000 as the original with the limiter removed. Same core mechanic, same feel, but the free spins can escalate to levels the original never reaches. The trade-off is higher volatility – you will not hit those big multipliers often.
Best for: Players who love the original but want to chase the really big wins without changing to a completely different variant.
Seasonal and Themed Variants
Christmas Big Bass Bonanza
Released November 2021. A festive reskin of the original with identical mechanics. The lake is frozen over, the fisherman wears a Santa hat, and the fish are wrapped in Christmas lights. RTP drops slightly to 95.67% but gameplay is otherwise identical to the original. Medium volatility, 2,100x max win.
Big Bass Halloween
Released October 2022. Horror-themed reskin with a darker colour palette. The fisherman becomes a zombie, fish are skeletal, and the scatter is a haunted tackle box. Higher volatility than the original with the same 2,100x max win cap.
Big Bass Day at the Races
Released June 2024. Horse racing crossover that replaces the fishing lake with a racecourse. Fish symbols become horse-themed, and the bonus round incorporates racing elements. 5,000x max win, high volatility.
Big Bass Floats My Boat
Released April 2023. Boat-themed variant with a unique boat bonus mechanic alongside the standard money collect. The boat travels across the screen collecting prizes. 5,000x max win, high volatility.
